Recent History in Tver
Though rather attractive in summer and pretty in winter, Tver doesn't inspire positive emotions in autumn. As leaves fall and the wind and rain grows cold, any town in Russia can seem ugly. Tver is no exception: under the grey skies of a Russian fall everything here, from the tsars' palace to wooden private houses and the Volga River itself, is cast in heavy gloom. That's probably why this article, written in a small hotel in rainy and windy Tver, may be a bit unjust to this old town. I beg your pardon in advance. >>
